Lurie Children's Camp Urban Explorers illustrations
Slalom helps to sponsor Lurie Children’s every summer with their Camp Urban Explorers. Slalom supports by planning activities, decorating the classrooms to generate excitement, and conduction book readings. For this year’s 8-week summer camp, Slalom created eight different illustrations to match the weekly themes, from ‘fashion’ to ‘all things animals’. These illustrations were used as print collateral to bring the classrooms to life, sparking joy and excitement for the camp participants. Additionally, Slalom created four derivative designs to be used as postcards to send to patients and family members throughout the summer.

Ole Blue Eyes Acrylic
One of my favorite paintings was created in November of 2018. In the hopes of working on my portrait work, I painted Frank Sinatra's mugshot using acrylics on a 3'x2' canvas.

Mini Album Cover Art
As a quick project back in May of 2020, I created small acrylics on spare photo matting paper of some of my favorite album covers.

Each year I end up mailing out quite a few cards for birthdays, holidays and just because. I of course always hand make my cards. My go to is my classic watercolor on cardstock with either thin black sharpie or metallic outlines.

Various Watercolor Cards

Chicago Series Paintings
At the beginning of 2020, I had the inspiration to create a Chicago series of paintings. They started out as digital illustrations of places in the city I passed on my way to work, and then I transferred the designs to canvas using acrylics and various color palettes. Each of these paintings were created on 16"x20"s.

Small Acrylics
For the times when I want to create a quick little painting, my go-to's are these little 6"x6" canvas'. They make the perfect gift or desk decoration.

Baby Shower Favors
In June of 2019 I had the pleasure to create these little baby shower favors. We didn't want the tags to just be calligraphy, so we decided to add some hand drawn watercolor animal illustrations. They went perfectly with the 'animal family' theme. The tags were created using cardstock, watercolors and fine tipped sharpie.

Logan Theater Acrylic
In May 2020, I created this painting of the Logan Theater. The client left a lot of the creative freedom up to me, so I ended up going with a black and white theme so that the neon lights of the Logan Theater sign would really pop. The finished product was a 16"x20" acrylic on canvas.

Watercolor Sketches
Towards the beginning of quarantine in 2020, I passed the time by creating some watercolors on scratch paper. I started by illustrating places I've been and then moved on to create other images of some of my interests. These pieces were initially sketched out, then watercolored and finished them with thin outlines made with a fine tipped sharpie.

Acrylics on Matting Paper
In 2019, I took some left over photo mounting paper and tested out using acrylics on them. This resulted in some posters of my favorite artists/movies. The ones I ended up liking most are shown here!

Acrylics on Canvas
Throughout 2020 and 2021, I had the opportunity to work on a variety of acrylic paintings. What I enjoy most about my acrylic paintings is the freedom I have to change up the style based on the individual project. Here are some of my recent favorites.

Chicago Nutcracker
During Christmas 2020, I created this Chicago themed nutcracker. I used acrylic paint on wood to bring this nutcracker to life. Incorporating some city staples such as the Chicago flag, skyline, a Cub's uniform and of course, a Malort scepter. After sealing the paint with a varnish, I added some hair fabric as the finishing touches.
Nicholas Comes to America Book Illustrations
Back in 2016, I was hired by HFK Presents to illustrate their book, Nicholas Comes to America: the Story of Santa Claus. The 8.5"x5.5" black and white illustrations were hand drawn using graphite.
